Olympus Mju 800 with Duran Duran photos auctioned : Currently heading into the home stretch of an eighteen month long world tour in support of their chart-topping album ‘Astronaut’ (Epic Records), the five original members of Duran Duran (Simon LeBon, Andy Taylor, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Nick Rhodes) are now on their way back to the United States and then Japan, where they will complete another five week run of dates, before returning to the studio to start work on their next record. Duran Duran’s upcoming North American tour marks the band’s third outing to the US in the past two years and follows a series of 28 European shows that included a four-song performance at the historic Live 8 concert at the Circus Maximus in Rome.

Playing some of their biggest hits: Save A Prayer, Ordinary World, Wild Boys and (Reach Up For The) Sunrise, to more than 200,000 people, the band were one of only two British acts to have also played at the original Live Aid some twenty years earlier. Following their performance the five band members flew from Rome to Denmark, where they finished up their European dates with a spectacular appearance at the Roskilde Festival in front of 75,000 fans.
Olympus Mju Digital 800 - Auctioned on eBay Germany
The events of that remarkable day (July 2nd, 2005) were documented by the band members on five Olympus µ DIGITAL 800 cameras that are now being auctioned on eBay Germany for charity. Each of these exclusive camera packages will include photographs of the band (stored on a 64 MB xD-Picture Card supplied with the camera) as well as a signed ‘Astronaut’ album.
Olympus Camera - Donation to Wes Wehmiller Memorial Scholarship Fund
Proceeds from the auction are being donated to the Wes Wehmiller Memorial Scholarship Fund which was established by Wes’ parents, John & Paula Wehmiller, after their son passed away recently. Wes played bass for Duran Duran during the 1990s and was a good friend. The fund provides an annual scholarship to one deserving student at the Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA).
