(AP, London, England) Today Martin Fry announced during a press conference at London's Hard Rock Cafe that for the 2008 "80's RE-GENERATION TOUR", legendary guitarist Andy Taylor from 1980s icons Duran Duran will be joining Fry to complete the revised band lineup. Taylor's addition makes ABC a duo that may be a force to be reckoned with at the box office this fall.
"I tried to get all 3 Taylors from Duran, actually," boasts Fry. "John told me the crows feet beneath my eyes are just too pronounced, and that he would rather decline. But John did say he appreciated the offer, which was somewhat nice."
"I can't say that Roger Taylor was nearly so gracious, however," reports Fry. "Roger called me a gold-lame wearing bastard..." laments Fry. "I told him he's only a drummer, and Steve Ferrone kicked his sorry-@ss anyhow."
When asked during the press conference why he chose ABC as the musical vehicle with which to return to performing, and not his esteemed mates in Duran Duran (a band he co-founded in 1978), Taylor (smoking heavily in plain view) attempted to answer when a bout of horse-like coughing afflicted him severely. Fry then replied in his stead, "What Andy is trying to say, is that he joined me because ABC is clearly a better band than Duran."
When a reporter called out the fact that ABC is NOT, in fact, a band... Fry retorted, "Yeah, well... (chuckle)...I would like to see Simon Le 'what's his name' write a song like 'WHEN SMOKEY SINGS'."
