"Last night we performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo. The Nobel Laureate for Peace (as he or she is referred to) this year is a gentleman by the name of Mohammed el Baradei. He is the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Dr. ElBaradei and the IAEA were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for efforts "to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way." And yes, I did copy that from the press release. He seems like a very good and sincere man, who is working his ass off to make the world a safer place for all of us. I did not know who he was
before this weekend, but now I do, and in the future I shall watch with interest his efforts to clean the world up of it's excess of Atomic weaponry, at the same time making it a safer place to use Atomic power.
We played three numbers at the concert, 'Sunrise', 'Nice', and 'Ordinary World'. I hope Mr el Baradei enjoyed it. If we aren't quite his cup of tea then perhaps we were his son's or his daughter's. There
was a variety of entertainment on show for him, Gladys Knight, one of Motown's last surviving stalwarts, gave an inspiring performance. I had my first introduction to Katie Mehlua, whose voice I found enchanting. I shall be buying her CD this Christmas. I also enjoyed watching Katherine Jenkins, a young Welsh girl with an
extraordinary voice. There was Westlife, if that's your bag, and many many more- my personal favourite though of the evening, was Duran Duran, probably because they were the loudest. So, after three nights in Oslo- and I did not go to the party, you will have to ask Nick about that- I'm ready to move on. Next stop, Antwerp, Belgium, for the second stop on this, our sadly very short, Christmas tour of Europe. We have some new tricks up our sleeves for this run of shows. We were concerned, naturally, not to deliver the same show as we have been playing all year; so we've made a few changes that I think you will enjoy.
