(note, this is in pure fun. We all know I love Simon, so all jesting it out of pure admiration...for his belt buckle, AHAHA!)
Once upon a time, there was this group of guys and they liked to play music. But in walked a peacock and the guys thought, "We like the way this peacock sings." And thus a band was born.
Now that may seem a little strange to you. But it's a little known fact that not only do Peacocks make better frontmen than Roosters, but they're notorious for changing their spots...er, big giant pretty green feathers - every time they put out a new album.
It's true!
I saw it on the Discovery Channel.
Anyway, join me if you will for a look back at the constantly changing styles of my favorite peacock, Simon.
The first album was "Duran Duran." For this release, Simon and the boys helped usher in a trend known as "New Romantic."
"New Romantic" of course stems from the old Latin phrase Novus Romanticus which loosely translates to "Gay Pirate."
Furthermore, this new Gay Pirate form of dress bred a series of gay pirate dancing, exploited by the peacock in the Duran's earliest video, Planet Earth.
Naturally, females responded well. As did a few males. All in all, the peacock came out swinging and made a home run with puffy shirts.
Real pirates, of course, were not amused as they felt this "new fangled music" was bad for their image. Instead of fearing their mighty power, girls were shrieking and throwing underwear at them. What is a pirate supposed to do with underwear?!
Luckily for them, our intrepid peacock soon became bored with the concept and decided he'd much rather dress like Crocodile Dundee.
Tune in next time when we present - "Simon goes to Rio."
